Creating a Doll takes 3 steps:

-Finding Doll Body

-Inspiration

-Construction

In this article we will help you accomplish all 3.

Frills and Fancy
Issue #1
Mar 2005

Well here is the meat of this issue!  Making your very own Biddy.  Now you can be creating this doll  to enter in our wonderful biddy contest .... or give as a gift to a special friend .... perhaps you simply need another piece to sell at a show.  (contest is now defunct)

Whatever the reason ... I hope to bring you a fresh perspective on creation and inspiration
.

The key to learning ... is to remember there are as many different ways to construct a doll ... as there are doll artists constructing dolls!  Each brings his or her unique *gift* to a class or tutorial.  The trick is to learn as MUCH as possible from everyone ... then keep the gems of instruction that work best for you!  So there is never one person that really comes up with everything!  All artists are a combination of learned techniques (whether from articles, classes or trial and error).  And with that in mind ... lets build that biddy!

-Finding a Doll Body
will give you a perspective on many different times of molds available, as well as being a source for those on a budget

-Inspiration gives a wonderful background on red hat ladies ...
and those wonderful golden girls that make us smile!

-Construction
goes into intricate detail on everything
from assembling doll, shoes, and many types of dress
patterns.

Happy Creating!  DANA
